The Bohus Hall
The coastal nature of Bohuslän mirrored in the Bohus Hall
This exhibition combines art and science. Plants and animals, rocks and ocean are presented in the zone where water meets land. The exhibition particularly focuses on human use and perception of nature. Many questions are posed. What causes changes in nature? Where do they pivot to become environmental destruction?
Our relation to nature affects how we choose to depict it artistically. The "artistic discovery" of Bohuslän was introduced by the 19th century romantic painters, when the bleak landscape was perceived as something valuable, and permanently introduced as a vivid artistic theme.
The exhibition received supporting funds from Sparbanksstiftelsen Väst. The texts are available in Braille, and can be requested at our reception desk.
